So, I meant to talk about this yesterday, but I totally forgot. Little Sister gets its title from the song “Cry, Little Sister,” from the movie The Lost Boys, which is (dare I say?) heavily referenced in the novella. I really love that song. In fact, I listened to it on repeat while writing the book, so now, when I reread scenes of the novella, I suddenly begin hearing “Cry, Little Sister” in my head.
Do you know this song? If not, please listen at the bottom of the post.
Anyway, the song is clearly from the point of view of a vampire. He’s talking about how empty and lonely he feels and he wants this girl to be with him as a vampire so he won’t be all by himself. I used the lyrics of this song as the point of view for Bailey in the story.
I also called the pub in the story The Blue Masquerade, which is a line from the song. Anyway, you’d think I’d be sick of this song by now, but I still love it. It’s so awesome.
Enjoy:
