But here she is at court, stifling responses to all of the elf lord’s awful double entendres and glaring at him every time he winks at her. Sometimes, they have to touch to keep up the ruse, which makes it all the more difficult.
It would be easier if the elf lord in question, Iahir nae Cirlahir, wasn’t tall and lithe and golden, if the sight of him didn’t dazzle her.
She isn’t attracted to him, of course. She’s only here to help him assassinate the king—the isolationist, racist High King, who is destroying the entire country by denying trade and sending all the orcs back to their homeland. Once the king is gone, all of this will have been worth it.
And once the king is gone, she’ll never see Iahir again.
She certainly won’t save his life. Three times.
